About us
St Peter and St Mary's Church is the Parish Church of Stowmarket. We are part of the Church of England in the Diocese of St Edmundsbury and Ipswich in Suffolk .
Our Church building has stood in the centre of Stowmarket for over 700 years, although the first Church on the site is believed to have been built in 637AD
Most of the people who come to Church live in Stowmarket although quite a lot come in from the surrounding areas because they feel at home with the worship.
There are two Sunday Services. The 9.00 am service is more traditional; the 10.45 am service is less formal and includes activities for young people (the children meet for some of the time in the Church Hall). We also run a range of mid-week activities, details of which can be found on the Home page.
Our Church always encourages a good relationship with the other Churches within the town through Churches Together in Stowmarket and we all get together several times throughout the year
We are working towards becoming a ‘ Mission Shaped Church ' and we are always exploring new ways in which we can LET PEOPLE KNOW ABOUT THE LOVE OF JESUS CHRIST.
Whatever your age there's something for you at St Peter and St Mary's Church.
